Titus & Friends

This past week the Shepherd Road Baptist Church sign read, “Revival meeting tonight; Hear great music, meet a great God.” Along with excellent nightly attendance and many blessings from kind folks, Lashaunti and Deanna did meet a great God. In a sweet note, one of the girls wrote, “Hi, my name is Deanna. I love to read the Bible. You seem kind. Do you love to read? You are really good missionary.” What a privilege to see these young ladies realize their need for a Savior! Titus loved having fun with his new friends, Belle, Emily and Curtis (Pastor’s children). Titus even “taught” them to play his favorite instrument, Aunt Javonda’s xylophone.

We started the year at Campbell City Baptist near Kissimmee, Florida. Join us in praying for them as they search for a new pastor. Three concerts in Clermont, Sebring, and Wildwood, Florida gave us a special opportunity to share the Gospel with hundreds of people from various backgrounds. Our goal was to have every person leave with a copy of the tract “How to be 100% sure of Heaven.” January 22-24, we ministered with Jerrill and Andrea at their Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. During their school chapel, we shared through music, message, and drama, how each one of us should reachout and rescue the lost. Our itinerary has us headed to Whitney Road Baptist Church in Leesburg, Florida for a Valentine’s banquet and family emphasis weekend. As we each travel down the journey of life, may we do as the church sign said, help others “meet a great God.”

No rush for these spaces!

On the way to a meeting, we pulled our rig into a parking lot as we often do to eat a packed lunch. While enjoying a veggie pita my wife had prepared, I snapped this ironic picture. Two handicap parking spaces over 150 yards from the nearest store. What a plan!

In December, we had rare back-to-back open Sundays. As usual, each week we visited a local church. Our unplanned Sundays, turned into God’s planned Sundays. Both weeks, the churches asked us to sing and preach, and then scheduled to have us back this spring. God had a plan! Our annual program for over 60 prisoner’s children and caregivers went better than planned. Many returned from previous years. Three children from the same family (12, 14, & 15 years old) came forward during the invitation. Two received assurance and the other accepted God’s plan of salvation. While Titus, Judy, and I flew north to celebrate the Christmas season with her family in Pennsylvania, Dad and the family had a couple more opportunities to minister and fill the pulpit for a pastor on vacation. Praise the Lord that Titus loved the plane more than we planned.

Thanks to each of you that have blessed and encouraged us during this Christmas season.  A mother and daughter wrote, “I am eternally grateful for having gotten back on track when we attended your revival in Makanda, Illinois. I am always amazed by the ways the Lord uses your family and how joyfully you all obey. May the Devil stay out of your way.” What kind words and a humbling reminder! Unlike the planner of the parking spaces, this year, plan ahead to follow God’s plan!

Starting young! We love you Titus!

Thanks to each of you that prayed for yesterday’s “Youth Night.” I wanted you to know that God answered beyond what we could imagine. There were over 20 teens in the main service and 29 more youngsters in our Kids-4-Christ program. During the music, we were all in the auditorium where we even had six volunteers play “Jesus Loves Me” on the Indonesian Bamboo Shakers. Then during both messages we saw seven young people trust Christ. As one overjoyed church lady said, “Some plant, some water, but praise be to God. He gave the increase.” I also thought you might like to see Titus testing out the mics before the service. Keep praying!

If you were to take a map of the state of Virginia, you would probably look…...and look…...and maybe, just maybe, after several minutes of searching throughout western Virginia you might find us. We are over forty-five minutes from the nearest Wal-mart in little town called Clinchco. But in this little dot on the map, God is doing BIG things. Last night was adult night during our revival here at Faith Bible Church. There were over twenty first time visitors. During our Kids-4-Christ program, Javonda, Judy, and I have been able to deal with several children and have seen three miraculously accept Christ and one receive assurance of her salvation. Monday, we had the blessed opportunity to go into Haysi Public High School to present the truth and promote tonight’s special Youth Night to a group of over eighty. Many have said they are coming, so please pray for God to move in hearts. 

As we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving at Jerrill and Andrea’s house in Florida, we reflect with grateful hearts on last week at Skeetrock Bible Church north of Clintwood, Virginia. The dear folk’s kindness and generous spirit was such an encouragement. We also praise the Lord for safety to and from the church on a 10 mile one-lane road over very difficult terrain for RVs. This Thanksgiving season, let us each not generalize our gratitude to God, but rather specifically consider every blessing he has given us. Thank you for your prayers!
